Upper Delaware River Float Trips Fly Fishing for Wild Trout.
Upper Delaware River Float Trips
What section of the Delaware
River will we float?
Flow, water temperature, weather and time of the year all determine how different sections of the river fish at any given time. These conditions change through out the season. What section we'll float on any given day will be determined by these factors.
on the main stem.
By Stream Section
A New York State fishing license to fly fish;
The entire East Branch.
The West Branch anywhere upstream of the Monument Pool.
A Pennsylvainia or New York State fishing license to fly fish;
The West Branch from the Monument Pool downstream, including the main stem.
A rod that you are comfortable fishing with would be my suggestion. Keep in mind though this is big water. While fishing a 3 or 4 weight rod is nice you may not have the power that you might need to reach rising fish. One day you can get close to the fish, but the next day they can be spooky and you will have to make a considerably longer cast. The wind can also be a factor on any given day. Bringing along a 5 or 6 weight rod will make these situtations much easier to deal with.
